how to rest

Overachiever, it makes sense that you’re exhausted even when you attempt to prioritize rest. ⏰ You know that overstimulation is flatlining you, and the coping tools you’ve been using to calm down are simply no longer serving you. ⏰ Maybe you are trying to switch off your racing mind with activities that numb your senses and lead to more stress in the long run.

🌧Brain fog, muscle aches, losing your focus and enjoyment of things you use to love all make sense when your nervous system is under-resourced, making it hard to connect to others, to be able to think and feel at the same time, and to access playfulness.🌧

✨Consider these small ways you can take rest and resource your whole nervous system to feel settled, even in a packed day.

🏝Shut your eyes and use your fingers to slowly massage around the eye sockets. Move outward to the forehead and jaw to loosen urgency and tension.

🏝Stand up and give your arms and legs a good shake-out! At least 5 times each limb. You move stress by discharging constriction in the muscle armour.

🏝Sip a cool drink through a straw. The temperature change soothes the overworked body and the straw helps slow your breathing, helping both your heart rate and thinking mind to slow down.
